Worst experience in the Latham store

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I called the Latham store to ask about tires. Was put on hold for over 15 mins. Finally was told to come down they could set me up. Get there. Stood at the counter for a half HR. Nobody at the desk it to be found. This one guy working close to the store door. Kept shaking his head. Cause God only knows where the counter person was. And apologize to me. The worker not the person at the desk. So kiddos to him. Anyways. The sales manager I'm assuming had a white shirt on and was rude as can be. Like I was bothering him. That's poor business. Anyways. I said I'm looking to have some tires put on the car. Then says to me after I called and he said come on down. Was there in 15 mins. And says to me. We're to busy. Can't do it today. It was 3:00 pm. 3 cars in the bay. A woman standing behind me. Looks ate him I'm assuming she was wanting tires also. Left in disgust. It was just horrible from the phone call and time I was there. Did I mention I was kept waiting at the counter with no one there. They need better management there. Maybe the guy that was changing the tires in the black caddy should be the manager since he was so nice and kept saying he was sorry. Which he truly was and went back to work and kept shaking his head. So I can't even give this place a one star.

The worse tire company on earth

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Where do I begin... in August 2015, I took my car to the Mathis tire location on Hwy 64, at that time Joe (no longer there) was the manger. They rotated my tires and changed my oil. Well, later that after noon, I noticed one of rim center caps was missing (chrome rims). I immediately called the store and notified the manager Joe of this, he asked that take a picture of my rims and email it to him at wolfchasetire@***.com there I did. The next day I called Joe to confirmed he received my emailed, he stated yes, he will replace the center and should have it in a week or so (mind you this happen in 2015). Fast forward to May 13, 2017, I'm still waiting on the replaced center rim cap. Against my better judgement I returned to Mathis tire on Hwy 64, by this time the have had a total of 5-new managers, (turnover is serious for a tire rotation, oil change and and alignment. I dropped my car off at 10:15am, was told is will take roughly and hour and half. I left and returned at 1:00pm, they were finishing up on the oil change (so I thought). The technician lowered my, got in my and began to reverse back and broke my my driver side mud flap. I saw the technician faced and immediately went into the work bay to inquire what happen, the manager Jerry, informed me everything is okay, I replied the *** it is. Jerry (the manager) proceed to inform me the technician lost his aunt that morning and his mind is not here, what does that have to do with me I stated?! He should not be a work, if his mind is not on work. If I had not seen what what they would not have told me about. At this point I'm beyond frustrated, so I left. I received a called at 4:10p from Jerry, stating my car is ready for pick up. I returned to get my car and noticed the passenger side rear rim was installed incorrectly, so I went into the store to pay and notified Jerry of this, Jerry walked outside with me to examined to examined the rim, he then called for a veteran technician to pulled my car back into the bay and correct the people. But he couldn't, the part was badly striped and could not be repaired. I remained calm and asked Jerry, what are you going to do about this. Jerry states, I'll give a $10 credit on your billed for the broken mud flap and will replace the center rim cap. He should his this in in a few weeks. I then tell him, I heard this before, and I'm sorry but that's not acceptable after all I'm still waiting on the center rim cap from 2-years ago. Jerry tells me, I (he) wasn't here 2-years ago and I have his word this will be resolved in a few weeks. It's now June 19, 2017 and I'm still waiting on other replacements, I spoke with Jerry an hour ago and he informed me there's nothing he can do. I called the main office at 901767**** to speak with Curtis, the regional manager, he was conveniently unavailable. So I spoke you his assistant, was called Joe (the manager in 2015) to get an update...I'm working on it Joe sated. I then lost it, and informed them this is my fault, I should have contacted an attorney when this happen in 2015, but I didn't. I'm not asking for hand out or a come up, I'm simiply requesting that Mathis Tire on Hwy 64, in Memphis replace my 2-chrome center rim cap. I am aware Pep Boys now own Mathis tire, that's unfortunate for you them, there reputation and client intel will suffer dramatically. Please feel free to call me with any questions 901277****.

Update on stores

This is to inform all persons who has had service done at either Mathis Tire or Direct tire that brighter days are ahead. Pep Boys has purchased these stores and will be transforming them into National Pep Boys service centers.l So all be glad! It can only get better for both the employees and the customers. Employees will have to pass background checks as well as drug screenings and the inside word is that Curtis Clifton will be leaving the company. to go work with Walter Mathis as he has chosen to keep his properties and not sell them with the business

Mathis Tire - Car Repair Review

I took my car to the Mathis Location to look at my transmission. After checking transmission, they statedbthat i needed a transmission and told me they could get me ine for 1500. They told me car would be ready in a Wednesday. I received multiple calls on issues they had with getting a transmission for my car so my car wasnt ready yet. I received a call Friday telling my car was ready but they had to charge me an extra 250 because they didnt know they had to programme transmission in my car. I picked car up on Saturday and drove it home. I drive it to work on Monday and Tuesday and on my way home from work, it begin slipping again. I took it back in Wedneday morning and they stated it need another part, so i had to pay extra money. I told them that i wasnt spending any more money for the same problen it was having when i brought it. They told me that they could tak part from my old transmission and out it on the replaced transmission. They called me a couple hous later and said car was ready. When i picked it up and as soon as i drivenit off lot it was doing the same thing. Intook it back and they tell me it couldnt be the transmission. They took it to dealership and another transmission place to see whats the problem. After taking car to all other places, they tell me it wasnthe ECM and wouls be another 650 dollars. After speaking with several mechanics, they tell me this should have been diagnosed in the beginning. I feel like this is a ripoff because i feel like this should have been diagnosed from the beginning.

Resolved: Mathis Tire - Customer Care Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I recently went to the Park Ave location and ended up leaving without getting my vehicle worked on, and it was solely because of Scott Haynes. I went in for a basic oil change, and he kept on and on about how i needed an alignment, balance, tune up, etc. I understand that those things are very important but it wasn't time for anything but an oil change. He was so pushy and that's what ended it for me. He wasn't worried that i said no more than once, but was obviously solely focused on money and not thr well being of the customer. He also didn't seem to care that i told him he was being sort of pushy and how i didn't appriciate being treated like i had pockets full of money to just fork out. I would never visit this location again, simply because of Scott Haynes.

Pushy Sales Manager

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Requested a one time wheel alignment for $89 when I went into the store at Goodyear Mathis Tire in Collierville, TN. The first person who took the request asked if I wanted the lifetime warrant. I said , "no", the one-time is fine. Then at checkout, the sales manager asked again and continued by insisting that a lifetime warranty was a better deal, even offered a $20 discount, and I should take it. I said "I'm fine with the one time alignment", but he continued to push the merits of the lifetime warranty, which I didn't dispute, until I finally agreed to. The total bill was $207. About 15 minutes later after leaving the store, I called back and said, "you know I really only want the one-time alignment. Besides, I probably will sell the car within the next year anyway, so would you please either refund the difference or adjust my credit card accordingly so I am only charged for the one-time alignment?" The sales manager presented his reasons again for keeping the lifetime warranty. I said, "I understand, but I really only want the one-time alignment. He then said he could not reverse the charges after he made the sale. I said, "so I'm stuck with the $207 bill? He said yes, he couldn't reverse any charges now that the sell was complete, but again emphasized the merits of the purchase. Frankly, I understand the sale manager's motive to increase sales whether for commissions or otherwise, but I certainly did not feel he only had my best interest in mind, especially when he said it was impossible to do a refund. I also realize it's not a lot of money at stake, and hardly worth my time to go to all of this effort to voice my concern, but for me its the principle of how the transaction was held and the way I was pushed into spending more money than I wanted to, and then told nothing could be done about it. I have called the Goodyear corporate headquarters customer service line, and they said I can file a complaint. They also said if a store gets too many complaints, corporate can cut off the tire supply, even if the store is an independent one which this one is. Thus, they recommended calling the store manager or the owner - Walter Mathis - to see if they can resolve the refund problem first, then if they cannot, to call back and file a complaint. To be continued......

Mathis Tire - Car Repair Review

At an oil change wife was told our truck also needed new struts. She took it back in to have struts put on. An owner happened to be there and told her he looked and the truck did not need struts. She took her car in because a "check engine light" came on. Was told they fixed it for $243.13. Light appeared the next morning. She took the car in and was told another part was needed for another $300. Was told it had to be done now. She was hesitant because this guy was the same one that told her the truck needed new struts. Can't trust this store. We are out hundreds of $. Now must take the car somewhere reputable and pay more $ to get the problem fixed. Get a 2nd opinion before you let the Southaven MS location cheat you out of hundreds of dollars.

Inconsiderate and pure lack of concern for a loyal customer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been a loyal customer of Mathis Tire for almost 10 years. I experienced the absolute worst customer service that I have ever encountered on today August 27, 2016. I took my car to the Park Avenue location Memphis, Tennessee at about 1:30p.m for a simple wheel alignment. I purchased the lifetime alignment package a while ago so I periodically get my tires aligned no big deal, it usually takes about 20-30 minutes. This time I was told it would be about an hour an a half. I said okay and went across the street to do some shopping to pass the time. I came back about two hours later and found that my car was in the same spot, it had never been moved. I spoke to the salesman Joshua and reminded him of the timeframe that I was quoted. I was told that my car was next and that there was only one alignment machine. I was a little perturbed but I said okay and I went back across the street to shop another 40 minutes. I came back and my car still had not moved. I asked Frank why was my car still not finished. They gave me the same story that my car was next and they had only one alignment machine. Now it's about 4:15pm. I have waited since 1:30p.m. I expressed to Frank how inconvenient and inconsiderate they had been of my time. I had an engagement to attend and I was unable to make the event on time. I asked for a complimentary oil change for my inconvenience. I was told no they could not do that. I could not believe the pure lack of concern or consideration for my time or the long term relationship that I had with this company. About 4:30pm Frank comes over and ask did I still want my alignment. I looked at him and asked was he seriously asking me that seeing that I had been there since 1:30pm. waiting on this infamous alignment to be completed. When my car was finally finished Joshua told me that my total was $103.95. I told him he must be mistaken because I have the lifetime alignment package. He had forgotten already that he discussed this with me upon my initial arrival while he was so diligently trying to sell me the lifetime oil change and balance package. If he had been as diligent about getting my car serviced, I would have never encountered this issue. The most disturbing and hilarious part was they would have actually charged me the full price when I waited literally 4 hours for this alignment. I will never take my car to this establishment again and I will make sure to tell anyone I know that they provide the absolute worst customer service this side of the Mississippi. The salesman and the management team suck at this location. There needs to be some serious customer service and time management training provided so that this incompetent location doesn't bring the whole Mathis name to Squat!

I am an employee of this store and I first want to say there is no excuse for that and I apologize. Unfortunately, some alignments take longer than others but that is still no reason that is should have lasted this long and especially with no communication from the store to update you on your cars progress.

I can tell you that Josh was rather new to the company and Frank had just been put into a management position as well. Again, not to justify or condone their lack of response, but just to make you aware. I am back at this location now and I would love for you to please give us another chance.

I will gladly give you a complimentary oil change and tire rotation because things have changed since I recently returned. Please feel free to call me at the store 901-767-**** and we will set up a time and date.

The Park Avenue location is bad, but I think that the company management is to blame too, at least when it comes to price gouging. I was at the Park Avenue location today, and I kept my eye on my car the whole time it was in the shop. I noticed that the employees did a lot of time just walking around and did not appear to be focused on getting much done in a timely manner.

I am an employee of this store and have been for 2 years. I was sent to a few other locations to help out and I just got back to Park.

There are several reasons that you may see people walking around and not doing what you consider "getting much done".

First of all, there are different levels of skilled techs that do different jobs. We also have to wait on parts and sertain machines to be freed up as well. These are not tools tha cost a few hundred dollars, some of them cost in the tens of thousands and we only have one to use. Your car may have a special oil filter that is hard to find or maybe you have people ahead of you with issues that got there first.

Our techs work hard and yes from the outside looking in it may seem rather different than it actually is, but We know that window is there and we have it there for you to view because we are secure in our employees. If you ever want to come spend some time in the shop and see how it actually works, Id be happy to set that up for you.

Just call me at the store, 767-****. Katie

Thats odd. There is no you tube video in the link you provided.

You also show no proof of anything. Who is your "professional" mechanic? Dont you think that these details should be mentioned before you slander a business? What year make and model is your car?

Was there anymore recommended work that you didnt do? You are leaving out some very important details dont you think?

Mathis doesn’t hire professional mechanics. Anyone with any sense wouldn’t work there.

Lol. Mathis hires anyone - oil change idiots to do major repairs. Cars always get ruined and misdiagnosed. Nobody certified or with any intregrity would work for that devil.

He has a class action lawsuit he settled out of for federal wage and pay violations! I was one-off the employees so I know firsthand!

You just said in your comment above that you have done illegal tire repairs but you want to try to down a store for doing whats best for the customer by complying with saftey standards? Its people like you who give places a bad name.

You dont have a clue what your talking about and Im willing to bed that you are most likely a former disgruntled employee, who rather than be a productive member of society and work, is at home doing this because he lacks the skills for anyone else to even hire him. Pahtetic.. And since you want to lie in a public forum, why hide behind an anonmymus name? Be brave and state who you are?

DO NOT GO TO MATHIS TIRES IN OLIVE BRANCH!!!

I had them replace all of my tires with new ones about 2 weeks ago. They were also suppose to replace rotors and rear brakes. That was done, but I still had problems with rear brakes. I drove the car back to them and they claimed they fixed that problem then. 2 weeks later and I'm just finding out that they only half fixed the brakes (the emergency brakes were causing the problem). Another mechanic told me they should have noticed that when they did the rotors. Also, they left the lugs loose on the rear tire from my second visit to them. All of the lugs were loose!!!

DO NOT go to Mathis Goodyear in Olive Branch. It looks like they have all new employees because I've been taking my vehicle there for a long time and this is the first issue I've noticed.

I went in for the $19.99 oil change & ture rotation special, when I left I heard loud noises from my car, I took it back to get corrected, I asked what was the issue & was told they had to tighten my oil cap, go to work & I saw smoke from the engine, called & they said the guys spilled oil but they cleaned the engine the best they could & it will stop. Sunday June 5th- oil was running from my headlight & front bumper, popped the hood & there was oil all under. I have been dialing the number the gave me to speak with Curtis who they said was the president & here it it Friday June 10th & I haven't received or gotten to speak with him. I kept calling the O.B.

location, finally spoke with Chris & he said he was the assistant manager & told me to bring it in Friday & he'll look at it personally. How about I'm here & he's not so I had to deal with Dennis again who is just now telling me that they replaced my oil cap cuz they lost mimes & the only reason he told me was because I mentioned to him that what's on there is not mines. Full of crappie this place, their employees & management. I'm beyond pissed, when I got here this morning, I explained to them what's all been going on & he gone ask me what I want them to do- WTH?

I'm sitting here& I hear Dennis tell a parts delivery guy that the reason Chris isn't here is because his wife makes $40K just from selling makeup so he stayed home with the kids & he really don't need him here today. If anyone has any other way I can get my complaint across to be heard & better results, please contact me at missmakala1@***.com

Do not take your car to mathis on Mt. Moriah.

The manager (Mark Alexander) is rude, ignorant and will try to overcharge for services. After spending $1500 to replace my power steering pump and all of its components he tried to charge me another $150 to replace the power sterring belt. This store used to be my go to repair shop because the previous manager (Mike Cox) was the best mechanic I have ever come across. He is now at the southaven location and is always concise, accurate and would never overcharge.

He is a wonderful person who is more concerned with the customer and the accuracy of the work he does and the work he signs off for than milking a customer for money and doing unacceptable work.

Makw your complaints to the park location and ask for Kate. She is also wonderful and will take care if your concerns immediately.

About a year ago I went to the one in Southaven and the old man at the desk kept arguing with me saying that I needed a all terrain tire instead of a mud tire. I finally got it through his thick skull that I wanted a mud tire. So he showed me mud tires and I said I would take them. He ordered them and said they would be there the next day and I went on and paid them almost $900. I returned the next day and they put on the tires. I walk out to my truck and they were not the mud tires I wanted they were some kind of all terrain tires. I went inside and told them that they were the wrong tires and the old man said that they are the tires I ordered and I showed him the picture on my phone of the tires I ordered which I took on his computer and he watched me. He said he never showed me that picture and I said *** and he kept asking me to leave and I kept asking him to quit lying and he said there are 2 things I don't do and that is lie or cuss. And my step dad called my phone and wanted to talk to him and he lied to my step dad and told him I was lying and he hung up on my step dad because he was cussing. This went on for about an hour and I said just put my old tires back on and they charged me $50 for that. They don't deserve to even have a business if that is how you are going to treat customers. They are going to do it to the wrong person one day. The manager never even said anything and he was standing right there. If you are smart you will stay away

I was a mathis customer July 25,2015. They repaired my brakes, and supposedly repaired my fuel tank pressure sensor. On August 17,2015 i took my car up to a dealership to see why my check engine light was on, and they informed me that it was my fuel tank pressure sensor. Do you see the problem here.? The reason that man sat in that chair is because that is the area where the service advisor sits and runs the shop, orders parts and etc. why didnt you take the vehicle back to the store because it was covered under a warranty and give them a chance to fix it.

Were there any other factors or recommendations that played into this? That man works hard to mae sure that everyone is satisfied and yes, mistakes are made, but a lot of times they are beyond our control.

We get cars EVERYDAY that the dealership techs have not done properly, so please dont try to make someone look bad and be sneaky about it when you are doing it. Especially when you are not putting th entire truth up.

Mathis Tire is both ignorant about car repairs and rip off artists

I took a car that ran great for service other than the engine. Mathis Goodyear Tire Store technicians are both ignorant (not ***) about car mechanics and are rip off artists. They will service your car to run rough so that you come back for major service. Avoid all Mathis Tire Stores. They have 41 complaints with the Better Business Bureau in the last twelve months.
